PROJECT 1
SUPERCAR
AIR DUCT
This project involved creating composite layup tooling for an airduct.

Design and feasibility study on composite layup tooling using end client supplied CAD model (step). In order to create the composite layup tool I imported the step files and cleaned up any stray surfaces. I then exported as X_T files to another CAD system where I created final model of the mould.
The designs were then machined from epoxy tooling board on a CNC router to produce a highly accurate moulds. These moulds are then prepped and sealed. Finally, composite material is laid onto the surface of the mould to create the final part.

PROJECT 2
HELICOPTER
DOOR FRAME

This project was similar to the air duct project as it involves designing composite layup tooling created using end client supplied CAD model (STEP). I created the tools using SolidWorks and AUTODESK PowerShape

The Design Process
PROBLEM
At the core of every project is a problem. I first define the problem and identify what the project needs to achieve.
RESEARCH
DESIGN
I explore every facet of the problem. I analyse the projects cause and effect, its priorities, competitors and their approach, possible materials, etc.
I generate and refine tangible solutions until one emerges that meets the design criteria. I will then prototype this idea to test it.
PRODUCTION
I will create the final model that solves the problem
